Ali has done good work on my house for two jobs so far. He was sick the second time, so his partner Terrell came and finished the work. It was fast and to my standards. The price was also very affordable. There's not much more I could ask for.

Ali was one of the worst contractors I have ever hired.

Based on a low-priced bid and a referral from a business associate, I hired Ali to update the electrical system for a small apartment building in Oakland.

He and his team often showed up late or not at all. The timing of the project dragged on, inconveniencing many tenants with delays and missed appointments. His work was a mess, and did not pass the city inspection. He also caused over $1,000 worth of electrical damage to some tenants belongings, which he did not pay for.

After receiving partial payments on the project, he walked out of the assignment and did not complete it. He said that he had under-priced the project and wouldn't make enough to make it worth his time. I would have paid him more if he was competent and professional, but by then I wanted him off the job too. I had to hire another electrician to re-do his work and complete the project.

Ali is very professional and competitively priced. He assisted in relocating electrical meters for a rental property and helped a family friend with some work on a rental. Very nice to work with.

I fully agree with the first reviewer's comments. Indeed I'm surprised Ali is still around. he's personable, and probably knowledgeable. But he got all the wiring mixed up for a very simple project: a couple of phone lines.
And it took a long time cause he was running to deal with another job.

This past spring I needed an electrician to rewire a kitchen in a home located above Montclair. After getting estimates and meeting with the contractors, I chose Ali's Electric due mostly to his quoted price.

From the beginning, it did not go very well. Not to be mean because Ali really is a nice guy, the job was the least professional I have seen in all of my years of home renovation. He and his assistants showed up late or not at all on most days, took double the amount of time to complete the job, and did not even finish the work because I simply needed to let him go.

If you use Ali, be sure to get everything in writing and ensure that he sticks to his schedule.

Nice guy but not nearly enough to make me ever hire him again.
