I was helping a friend with his commercial juicer for his food truck on a Sunday. The machine died and I found Alan who doesn't normally do this type of work. He was so nice that he let me bring the machine to him to take a look.

We were so lucky. He fixed the machine for me and let me test it out before I left. Definitely a good man who is willing to help and did a great job. He went above and beyond and saved us.

My family owns the apartment building that I live in. We had a plumbing emergency that came up. I found Alan Goldberg contractors on Yelp. I needed a company that had insurance and a license. I called the office. They dispatched one of their technicians out immediately to take care of the problem. Unfortunately the building needed quite a bit of work due to its age. They repaired the problem quickly the price was extremely fair. I am having them give me an estimate on remodeling my small unit. If everything goes well I will update the review to include the new job. So far very impressed I would highly recommend their service

As our kids transition to elementary school age, my husband and I made the desicion to buy a summer home in Venice Beach, CA. As we guessed, it was quite a shock to see the prices of real estate in Venice compared to Sacramento, but we loved the location and really committed to make this happen. So, we vowed to economize wherever and as much as possible.

We were able to find something in our price range by purchasing a forclosure property, but it made us a bit anxious that it was a complete fixer upper. Until the summer, we have our hands pretty full, so DIY was completely out of the question.

We knew that we could save some money by hiring ""economy"" contractors - in other words, unlicensed, and uninsured operators who would probably cost less than the more legit licensed ones...but, we had heard WAY too many horror stories from friends and neighbors about such individuals abandoning the job once they got your deposit - or things falling apart soon after project completion and they would ""disappear"" when you tried to reach them. These neighbors' homes ended up turning into ""money pits"" when they had to hire legit contrators to fix or finish the jobs.

Anyway, in Venice, we really loved the traditional Venice Beach Bungalow aesthetic and wanted to keep the structure and remodel it instead of tearing it down, BUT we were also on a pretty tight budget.

We shopped around and hoped ot find someone who would work within our budget in a house that looked like it would have many potential problems ""pop-up"". Not only that, but we were looking for some design consulting from the contractor. We didn't have the budget for an interior designer, so we figured that a contractor with a good eye for design would do just fine.

After many hours of reading reviews, looking at portfolios, and asking LA friends for recommendations, we narrowed it down to three companies, including Alan Goldberg Contractors.

When we met first met with Alan, we knew immediately that we were in the right hands. He was very excited to take on our project and knew exactly what to do to make our house into our dream home by using materials and construction techniques that would fit our aesthetic AND our budget. We must say, Alan Goldberg is the most intelligent, well-informed, and professional contractor we have ever worked with--AND an avid problem-solver.

They had a very reasonable quote and we ended up getting everything we wanted within our budget!!! Sounds hard to believe with our previous experiences with contractors, but he is the REAL DEAL!

His company has been in business for over 30 years and he is profoundly knowledgeable with every specific component and feature of all types of renovation and construction projects - from the smallest detail to the entire scope from start to finish.

Alan Goldberg Contractors is blessed with a talented and hard-working team of experts in all trades of the construction industry. Alan, his project manager Cesar, and his office manager Janet are on top of everything - not only did they supervise the project at all times, but Alan, Cesar, and Janet were always professional, friendly, and available anytime we had questions or concerns.

It was a pleasure for us to have worked with Alan Goldberg Contractors to bring our interior design ideas to life. Once we pay-off our loan for this round of renovations, there is a 100% chance that Alan Goldberg Contractors will be our go-to team for the next round!

Unfortunately, I have to give Alan just one star. We called him to ground an outlet before our new microwave was going to be installed. The outlet worked for years with our old microwave but when we took the old microwave out we noticed it was not grounded. Alan came over later that day and fiddled with the outlet. He noticed the wiring was old and pulled out the wires altogether. He was rushed and ended up pulling more wires in the garage wall and broke the drywall in the garage doing so. Once he tried to plug something back into the outlet he realized it now was broken. He checked the breaker box and everything and said he would have to come back to fix what he had messed up bc he had another appt to get to. So we had a working outlet but once Alan worked on it and pulled the wiring out he completely broke it and now it doesn't work. We told him the microwave was going to be installed in a few days and he said he would come back before the install but he didn't know his schedule and for us to call his office to schedule an appt. Over the next three days we called numerous times to all of his numbers and left many messages. We never heard back from Alan. Not one call back after he pulled all the wiring out, made a hole in the garage wall to figure out what he did wrong, broke the outlet, promised to come back to fix what he did...we never ever heard back from him. I would avoid calling him and having him do any electrical work for you. Unless you want him to make your situation worse and not fix anything at all. He clearly is not interested in small jobs...he made it clear when he was working that he was in a hurry to go to another job. So I guess his way of making a point is to completely break our outlet and not fix it when it was 100% his fault.

Although I was initially disappointed that he had promised to call back on a specific day to schedule and it took him 3 days to actually do it, I must admit that the reviews are right. Caesar and John did a fabulous job restoring power to my outside and downstairs and did it efficiently, quickly and reasonably. They have my business from now on

Wow I couldn't believe it... I called on Saturday around noon and Alan literally was downstairs in front of my building within about 5 minutes. Not kidding. My electrical panel was making some popping and crackling noises so his extreme timeliness was definitely appreciated. And the guy worked like a mad scientist pulling out breakers and switching wires with expert know-how. Ran down to his truck to switch a breaker, quoted me for an electrical panel overhaul that needs to be done eventually at a fair price, then was on his way to enjoy the sunny afternoon. I quickly checked all the lights in the house and everything worked perfectly. If only every house call was like this one, the world would be a better place.

he sent out handymen who were not certified electricians to rewire my house. continuous issues, including 1 out of 3 plugs are currently not working.

Well, all I can do is echo what just about everyone else says. Alan is great. In fact, we called at something like 1am after our electric main popped...in the rain. I wasn't going to touch it and we agreed to meet early (later) that morning. 6am and we took a look at my ancient electrical panel. Alan's immediate and apparent knowledge of what happened reassured me my house was not going to explode! :) Anyway, he gave everything the once over, insulated the offending piece of metal and buttoned everything up (the metal panel blew off onto the side walkway). Back in electrical goodness in ten minutes flat. No big deal for him - GIANT deal for us. Thanks Alan. One other thing. A lot of people mention calling and waiting to get called back - you know the little guys who are really good are busy - it is worth hanging in there and supporting people like Alan. My two cents.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I am writing this review after having Alan come install 2 switches for my dental office. He knows his job! He came in at the time he said he would... (no 4 hour time slot like most repair guys often give you). His prices seemed fair, and he didn't keep changing the price, which I appreciate. I am writing this review about 1 year after I used his services.... (I thought I needed an electrician again and came on yelp looking for his number) I can't believe I didn't write the review before. I didn't end up having to call him afterall (A quick call to my dad and disaster was averted...I guess he deserves a 5 star review too), but I have no hesitancy using Alan's services again and I just saved his number in my phone because I panicked briefly when I couldn't find him on here for a couple minutes....

A year later and everything is in working order. Thank you Alan!

Great! Had Alan come out to fix electricity at my place in Venice. He was super efficient. Clearly knew his stuff and just ran through fixing what needed to be fixed. He gave me what I thought to be a very reasonable quote and was on his way. I'll definitely use him again when I need more electrical work.
