DO NOT USE Air Tech of Houston (2114 Lou Ellen Ln.) for any of your air conditioning needs. I typically do not write bad reviews about vendors unless they really behave unfairly or unprofessionally and of course if their work is not good or as advertised. Although this company fixed the problem they did it after taking advantage of me with the price, ignoring my calls and emails requesting clarification, and now taking this case to a lawyer, a needless act given that I have been the one initiating contact with them and I had full intention of paying what I owe...!

When their technician came on a Friday night to diagnose the problem he told me the coil needs replacing and I need 12 pounds of freon (R22) at $200/pound. Their quote was $3,800 and some change. When the technicians came Saturday and did the work, they said they used less than a pound as they were able to compress the freon into the condenser. They also said they installed a 10-year warranty coil unit (and plenum). Thinking that the price would have top be lower since they did not use 11 pounds of freon ($2,200), I immediately texted them, but no response.

Despite this, I posted a comment on Facebook asking people's opinion of what is fair to pay for such a job and I called 2 A/C companies - everyone said around $2,500. I would have paid that or even a bit more if I had received an explanation from them.

I later also found out that the R22 will be banned in 3 years making my (so called) 10 year warranty obsolete after 3 years!!!!!

After calling and leaving 2 messages for the owner to call so we can resolve this issue, texting the technician who came initially, emailing the owner and general manager, I got zero response until one of the managers, Billy called me acting as if he knew nothing about it (he was one the managers I emailed). Today I got a call from a lawyer telling me they will collecting for this company.

Although I have paid the bill in full, as my intention was all along, I never got an explanation from anyone there - either in writing or on the telephone. A company, despite their favorable reviews and regardless of their technical competence, that does not have good customer mannerisms will not get my business or that of others who deserve to be treated fairly. The city is full of good honest air conditioning companies that can do the work and not over charge for it.

These guys have a 70% mark up on any of the services they provide. I got billed for $618.00 to replace an AC capacitor that cost $20 in parts. Not after that I found out from others that replacing a capacitor can be done DYI. The guy was at the house max 20 minutes. I posted their exuberant service charge on our home owners page so they can be aware. I wrote the company an email asking them to re-adjust an unfair price charge and have not heard from them. I would rate them with 0 star if I could. Stay away from this company.

The tech showed up 4 hours late, left the cap off the drain line to one of my A/C units. This caused water to overflow, making a hole in the ceiling below and completely FLOODING MY BEDROOM carpet and carpet pad. I spoke with 3 different people there who all said it wasn't their fault/problem. I asked to speak with the owner and never heard back. They said they could schedule a tech to come look at it, but it would be a $129 service call. Thousands of dollars in damage done. DO NOT USE.

I called Air Tech to investigate and fix one of our AC units that stopped working. I was at work and couldn't get away so I arranged for someone to be at our house. Air Tech guy showed up, investigated and advised that coil was leaking and freon needed refilling. Quote would be $3,437. He advised that he could refill freon and get it running for about $500 until he could get parts, then the $500 would be included in final amount. Nice offer....except $3,437 is a rip off. I didn't commit, and instead researched other quotes. AC was repaired today (next day) by another company for $1800, inclusive of freon, service and taxes.
Basically Air Tech saw that I was disengaged, it was mid-July and very hot so likely we needed a fast repair, so they ramped up their price by double.
As expected, once they knew I was seeking other quotes I haven't heard back from them today.
I won't use or recommend this company.

Excellent service prompt, professional, and fairly priced. my unit capacitor died on a Saturday evening at 10 PM the day before a business trip, called Air Tech of Houston, the call went to a 24/7 emergency line where they asked my contact information and a brief description of the problem they asked me if it could wait or if it was an emergency; after confirming it was an emergency the lady said she would contact the tech on call and I should be contacted soon. In less than 5 minutes I received a call from Billy and he said he'll be here in an hour or so.

Sure enough about 40 minutes later he arrived, called my phone to prevent waking up the kids, went to the back and replaced the part very quickly.

Air Tech just left my home after doing a new AC system install inside and outside my house. 4 or so guys arrived and tag teamed the job in a few hours. Alan, the estimator was very professional when he came by our home yesterday and was able to schedule our install for today. They put a sheet down in the hallway so that debris from the attic does not mess up the carpet. Our AC electrical box outside had caught on fire at one point in time and they found this problem right away, which eliminated more safety hazards for my family. They took care of filing the permits, cleanup, hauling all the old AC pieces away, etc. Their work was clean and they were very courteous and professional. I HIGHLY recommend these guys. Disregard the negative reviews on here, these people have an A+ BBB rating (I checked) and I put more credence into the BBB than other reviews. I rarely, if ever give ANYONE 5 stars but these guys deserved it. Nick handled all the work with the guys today (did not get their names) and did a great job as well. Thanks for a job well done!

We purchased a Groupon to try them out. They came over to our house looked at everything, cleaned it out, check to make sure all was working and added a lot of Freon and charged us extra $145.00. Still a/c was not cooling after one week later. Called them back, purchased their yearly maintenance program for $150.00. The next person came to install new thermostats hoping that would fix the coolness issues and told us we needed to replace our whole unit outside. Actually, it was a piece in the upstairs unit that needed to be replaced. They did replace the part free of charge and they did replace the coils outside under warranty for $959.00. The other part of our maintenance program that we purchased was never used. They never called to set up an appt to check the furnace like they stated they would. I would run away from this company.

STOP LOOKING , JUST HIRE AIRTECH OF HOUSTON. THEY ARE THE BEST IN HOME SERVICE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. Our 2004 built home is about 3900 square feet. We had 1 single 4 ton a/c unit for the entire house. Our electric bills in August were near $400 to keep our home at 75 degrees and we pay about $0.11/kilowatt hour. So that's a pretty high bill. We decided to replace out 1 a/c unit (and furnace) with 2 new units, one for the 1st floor and 1 for the 2nd floor. We also decided to have the upstairs zoned off into 3 separate zones since all of our bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. Our master suite on 1 zone, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on another, and the game room on one zone, is how we had planned it out. AirTech Of Houston has performed maintenance on our old system before and we were very pleased with our previous experiences. They were my first (and only) call. We had AirTech come out 2 look at our home to see if what we wanted to do was even possible. Daniel was our sales guy. He explained that it was completely possible, duct work would need to be replaced and re-routed in our attic. He also explained that technology has advanced so drastically over the past decade in HVAC, that we have several options for what we could do. He was in our home about an hour, took a lot of notes, some measurements, and told me he would get back to me in a few days with the estimates. We had figured somewhere near $20,000 for the project and when the estimates came in higher, we didn't flinch at them. We looked at the equipment they were quoting, knew it was good equipment, had trust in AirTech, knew they had hundreds of excellent reviews online, and decided to go ahead with the process. We called them up and asked when they could start. They scheduled us for the next day. That very afternoon (day before the install), Billy Wagner, President of AirTech, came to our home, walked the property with us, made sure we had all the clearances necessary for the equipment, made sure we understood what was going to be done, confirmed our wishes, made sure the salesman quoted the appropriate equipment for our home, and really took the time to make sure all of our questions were answered. Billy decided that we could benefit from 2 different units than what the salesman had quoted, explained the benefits, we asked him for a new estimate, when he gave it to us, it was almost $2000 less than the original. WOW, a company that could've made another $2,000 and didn't because they had the best interest of the customer in mind. Day of installation, everything from start to finish was so smooth. They arrived on time (actually 5 minutes early), called me when they were on their way (as they had said they would, but how many times have we heard, ""We'll call when we're on our way"" and then never get a call). They arrived, began unloading equipment, removing old equipment, and removing old duct work in the attic. They were at my home from about 9am until 8pm. I couldn't believe they stayed to finish, what a long day, I figured 5pm was gonna roll around and they were gonna come back the next morning. NOPE, they promised it would be done in one day and they kept that promise. Before leaving they setup all the new digital thermostats (very technological system), showed me how to program them, change settings, connect my wifi, use the mobile app, connect the system to my Amazon Echo, and made sure all of my questions were answered before leaving. The next few days were quite warm outside and the air would kick on here an there, WOW, we immediately noticed a huge difference. The system starts up slow, gradually increases to the speed it needs based on the algorithms in the system, and cools the house so much faster. Here's the cool part, after it's done, it shuts off the compressor outside but leaves the fan on in the attic for a few more seconds to clear all the cold air from the ducts. AWESOME, no more wasted cold air. They had mentioned that they may need to come back and do some adjustments on airflow since we went with zoning off the upstairs into 3 zones. I called to have them adjust the dampers for proper airflow, they were out the next morning. I CANNOT EXPRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH I TRUST AIRTECH. I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW THEY HAVE EARNED A LIFE LONG CUSTOMER. THEY TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND SHOW IT IN EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO. THE QUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM IS UNSURPASSABLE. THANK YOU AIRTECH.

I have used them once but never again. the problem was my A/C wouldn't blow out cool air. A young man came out to fix the problem but he couldn't do it. He told me it was the circuit board. When he replaced it, it still wasn't working telling my I was lucky the circuit board was still under warranty(his fault not mine) Then he had to call his supervisor to come out and fix it. Supposedly all he had to do was move a few wires around. So it was then fixed or ""patched"" I should say. Flash forward a month and now my ac isn't working again. I called them up and they want $295 just to come out when they failed to fix it the first time. Just frustrating.

I originally called John Moore, tech came out said it was the capacitor, changed it and then told me that the compressor was out. Ended up, John Moore tech said I needed a whole new unit at $8000. The whole time he was telling me this, I got the impression I was being lied to and being pressured. Tech was telling me if I didn't do everything he lined out in the quote I would not pass a safety inspection. I decided to get a second opinion and went to Angie's List. I called Air Tech of Houston after I saw the amazing amount of positive ""A"" reviews they had on Angie's List. Their office was helpful, gave me an appointment during a time slot that would work for my schedule. Tech, Darien, called ahead and arrived during the allotted time. He checked the system, replaced the capacitor and I was back up and running for under $300. He took the time to explain his only concern with the unit, fan and motor were vibrating. He gave me options, said the unit was working and I could let it go until the unit dies. Told me I could replace the fan and motor, which might extend the life of the unit longer. Gave me a price to replace the motor and fan (less than $700). I scheduled the work and Kolby came out yesterday to install my new fan and motor. Work was done quickly at the agreed price, no attempt at add-ons. I absolutely didn't feel like I was being lied to or conned by either technician. Both techs were polite and respectful of my time and home. I appreciate that there are still companies out there that are trying to do a good job and not trying to cheat people. I signed up for their preventative maintenance plan and I will definitely recommend Air-Tech of Houston to others.
