We've used Agoura Electric in the past for several electrical projects at our Malibu home and always came away happy with the work, but what happened to us on Christmas Eve day this past year really exemplifies why we rely on Agoura Electric. I woke up to find the fridge pulled out from the wall and plugged into the outlet across the kitchen, the coffee maker plugged into an outlet in the living room, and my husband telling me the power was out in half the kitchen. He'd checked the panel, and nothing looked off. Christmas Eve day, people. My mom was arriving in a couple hours, I had an electric cord jump rope strung across the kitchen, and our living room was now a coffee bar. Ugh!

I called Agoura Electric and Jim said before he charged us $120 to come out to the 'Bu, he wanted to try to troubleshoot this by phone. I texted him pics of the outlets that weren't getting any juice, plus a shot of our panel. He texted the panel shot back with two switches circled and instructions to, ""turn these two off, wait a few seconds, then flip them to the on position.""

It totally did the trick. Time lost waiting for a tech to arrive? Zero. Charge incurred? Zero. Still working fine weeks later? Yep.

We had Jim come over our house and he did , then he added some lights upstairs that we were extremely happy with , however , they didn't fix the main entrance lighting. Jim's electrician came back and added some extra batteries that he made me buy . The light worked for 3 days and then it turned off. I sent Jim 2 text messages ( which showed as read ) but he didn't reply to me until I called him again. He did sent someone and the problem was fixed for a few days only and I made him aware of this. That was 5 months ago...I called him ""again"" last week to ask him to add some extra lights in the patio and fix the real issue with this entrance lighting and he told me he would call me back within 10 minutes and he never did ( this was 3 days ago). His services are shady , you can't trust his word.

I had some electrical work needed and I contacted This guy named Jim from Agoura Electric. He came highly recommended and I thought it was going to be great. He did only a part of the job (1/3) and the he did not complete the job but then he asked for all of the money I owed him. He threatened me that if I did not pay him not only the money that was due on the job (even though he only did 1/3 of the work) then he would not finish the job! HE IS A THEIF AND HE WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY. I WISH I KNEW OF HIS DECEPTIVE BUSINESS TACTICS PRIOR TO HIRING HIM. I WISH I WOULD HAVE CHECKED YELP!

We had the electric panel replaced to accommodate the need for a 240 volt outlet for our new electric car and solar panels. The workers were well qualified and efficient. I noticed how neat they worked and they were able to finish the work in 2 days. I have used them in the past and have nothing but compliments for their work. Jim, the owner of Agoura Electric, made sure we were totally satisfied with everything. We truly were!

Made an appointment with John for Tuesday, 7/25/17. Nobody showed up. Called to find out what happened and nobody returned my call. Emailed the following day and nobody returned my Email. Very, very disappointed.

We had an electrical panel that was old and failed. We were desperate as all of our food was defrosting. Other companies never returned our call, but Jim came out right away and efficiently installed a new electrical panel. We were very happy with the work.

My panel went out and I called Agoura Electric because we have used the company multiple times in the past 20 years. Jim got back to me immediately and came out to check my problem in minutes. I was VERY impressed with his knowledge and ability to get my power running quickly. He showed me sparks that could have become a fire...and bottom line, I needed a new panel. The 3 days of work became 5 weeks. Lots of excuses. Jim is a nice man and his employees were pleasant and polite. I did a lot of prodding and pushing to get it done.
I am happy with the end game of the job, just a pain getting it done.

I was VERY disappointed... I called, made an appointment with John to come to my home to do a ""small"" electrical installation. He told me that they could come the next day after a job in Malibu. No one called or came at the designated time. I called the next day and a very nervous John told me that he would have to call me back after he looked at their schedule. He never called back. I called and left 2 messages with no return call. Very disappointing to say the least.

If you really need an electrician this is not the right person for you; there is a reason he has 2.5 stars on Yelp. We got dragged through the mud of promises never met and prices much higher then originally quoted. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. Jim is a clown and doesn't take responsibility for his work. I've redone his work with conejo valley electric and they are much better.
