When my AC stopped running ACS came out quickly. Their staff was very helpful in setting up the appointment and the tech that showed up, Shawn made me feel comfortable in knowing it was going to be fixed right the first time.

I called to have a duct cleaning done for one of my clients. Jennifer answered the phone, who happens to be one of the nicest people I've ever spoken to, and got everything taken care of quickly. The technicians showed up on time, did a great job, and gave me a great price. I will be using this company from now on. Thank you for a job well done.

Summary:
I paid $845 to repair a 7 month old AC unit due to improper installation of the system (according to another AC company) and incorrect diagnosis by ACS. I wrote ACS on 8/2/17 and described ACS' errors. Ian (an owner) spent much time on the phone a few days later defending everything ACS did. I called the AC service that eventually fixed the system and went through each point with them. It was clear that ACS made a mistake in the diagnosis that caused the loss of Freon (which had to be replaced at a cost of $520). I wrote Ian of ACS again on 8/12/17 detailing the mistakes. Ian responded with a letter that included the statement: ""Your AC system is under warranty via TRANE for a total of one year of labor and 10 year on parts."" Ian accused the other company of wrongly charging me. On 8/28, I called Trane who said that their warranty only covers parts, not labor or materials like Freon. And, when I first talked to ACS on 7/26, the ACS representative also said that the warranty only covered parts and estimated the cost of the repair at over $650 because of the need for new Freon. The simple fact is that ACS misdiagnosed the problem and let the refrigerant out which was unnecessary and cost me $520. And, ACS refuses to reimburse for their error.

Details:
In late December 2016, ACS installed a new Trane Heat Pump and central AC at a cost of $6600 in my home at Tampa, FL. I subsequently rented the house in mid-July 2017. In late July 2017, the AC unit had to be repaired. Here is the timeline.

7/23, the AC stopped providing cool air as reported by the tenant.

7/26, ACS came out to evaluate the unit and stated that it needed a new TXV Valve. The ACS representative stated that the warranty only covered parts and estimated the cost of the repair at over $650 because of the need for new Freon.

7/28, ACS returned with the part and attempted, over a number of hours, to fix the AC. ACS was there for many hours from the morning till late Friday afternoon and replaced (or tried to replace) the TXV valve, which allowed all the Freon to escape. The ACS technician said the new TXV valve was bad. The tenant even heard the ACS technician say the system was a lemon. The repair was unsuccessful and the unit still did not work. ACS left and said they would return on Monday morning.

7/28, Air Conditioning Heating & Service of Tampa Bay repaired the system in the evening and stated (on the invoice) with quotes indicating their exact statements:
* Checked system - No mechanical problems - ""Return flexfilled with condensate water. Vacuumed out water andreconnected flex."" There was much more water than could have been made by the iced up coils and there was a slight drip from the condensate line. The technician stated ""Improper installation of condensate line (improperslope) causing back up in return restricted airflow. Proper installation of condensate line would haveavoided this completely.""
* ""No mechanical problems found. Previous tech (from ACS)indicated 2nd TXV valve installed failed. Part workingproperly.""
* This company also told me that a TXV valve would not freeze up the coil; it would either close & stop the refrigerant or let it through too easily.
* The technician just vacuumed the water and ensured the initial part of the condensate line sloped downward as required. This repair would not have required dropping the charge and then refilling the Freon.

I paid $845 to Air Conditioning Heating & Service of Tampa Bay for the repair, of which $520 was for new Freon because ACS dropped the charge by the mistake of trying to change the TXV valve, which required putting in the new Freon.

ACS should refund the $520 for the Freon but has refused to do so.

I am editing this review from an earlier post. I do stand by the facts of my original review(last paragraph), at the time I gave them 2 stars. This however has changed and I would like to tell you what changed my mind. Simply stated Ian (the owner) called me directly after he read my post and we spoke for about 30 minutes. He honestly wanted to know why, what did they do wrong? I explained my thought process and he explained, to my satisfaction, some ""behind the scenes"" reasoning.

In this day and age it is rare to find someone who cares. Ian does. So for that reason I have changed my mind. I will give ACS another try because I believe Ian is honest and truly cares.

I responded to a special offer for $39. The tech was pretty good he did explain what he thought and what I should do. Pretty strong upsale for their maintenance membership. The part he suggested needed replacement was a capacitor. He switched it out said the AC was in very good working order. 2 weeks later I am having AC issues, I call them back only to be told its just the heat AC is having trouble keeping up. But they suggest I do a Freon pressure leak test.

About 2 weeks before 5/3/2017 I met a representative from ACS Home Services at my clients house as I was at work. The representative proceeded to tell me the benefits of their company by explaining a no money money down payment option to get a new air conditioning unit installed. I thought to myself that that might be nice since my air conditioning unit was about to be repaired and freon restored in it for $700.00. I was busy at my clients home and didn't have time for the details so I made an appointment for the gentleman to come out to my home at a later date. On 5/2/2017 a gentleman came out from a different company (home depot) and proceeded to act like we originally scheduled the appointment with their company. The plan that the Home Depot representative was offering was very similar, but i decided that the overall price of the unit was too high and that I could not afford it. So I decided against it. The very next day (5/3/2017) my fiancé happened to be home and got a knock at the door from a representative of ACS Home Services. She introduced the company as ACS and my fiancé proceeded to tell her about the gentleman who had just came the day before and acted like he represented the company that I had requested to come out to the home. After the confusion of which company was supposed to come out had been resolved, She proceeded to explain to my fiancé the benefits of the Pace Program and how there was no money down. I was at work for all of this and did not agree to anything. I did not sign anything, but She (the ACS Home Services Sales Rep) proceeded to tell my fiancé that since he was not on my mortgage, to sign everything in my name. She sent documents to my email that my fiancé (Dylan Ray) signed in my name in front of her. She then took the documents that my fiancé signed and got me approved for the Pace Program without me present. My fiancé called me one time during the conversation with Her to only explain to me that this company was cheaper (which it wasn't. It was even more) and that I would be getting a $250.00 rebate after completion. I asked him how much the unit was and he told me just a little over $10,000.00. I did not know that he was signing anything in my name. He did not tell me that. She was aware of all of this. She proceeded to explain that she knew how to manipulate the numbers for the Pace Program and get the monthly payments to the lowest minimum payment plan. She explained to my fiancé that it would be a little over a hundred dollars a month starting the beginning of next year for the next 20 years. I was unaware of any documents signed and did not know that anyone was coming out to my house the next day. My fiancé explained this to me when I got to my home at almost 10pm on 5/4/2017 after all of the work had been done. My fiancé left to go to work at 4:30 pm on 5/4/2017 and left my 14 year old daughter there at my home with the gentlemen installing the unit. When ACS technicians finished the work, they had my 14 year old daughter sign something (don't know what it is that she signed). I asked my fiancé what he signed and he said that he didn't have copies and that he would call Her in the morning for them. I decided to do the math of $100.00 a month for 20 years and got $24,000. I told my fiance who was in shock from this figure and he said that must be a mistake. He called Her the next day who wanted me to sign a completion letter and she forwarded him the documents that he signed in my name via text to his cell phone. At this point I was furious with all of this and not being included. I wrote a letter and sent it to their company first thing Monday saying I did not agree to any of this and I would like their equipment removed and mine back. Since then, I have gotten many unprofessional and threatening texts from the employees at ACS Home Services. And to my mortgage holders surprise he received an unexpected 20 year lien letter.

I had a new AC unit and air handler installed in September of 2016. Only 9 months later and I am having problems with it. Last night it shut off (a safety feature I was told) today they sent out a technician who cleaned out the drain line. Still ac hasn't cooled the house down at all. I made numerous calls to finally talk to Vanessa who was nice but no help. The bottom of my air handler is soaking wet but they aren't doing anything about that. (Tech told me Matt was working on something for me, funny thing Matt Cook won't answer my calls or return them) This is now a day later and this AC can not keep the house cool in fact I have it set on 74 and it is 80 degrees in here, my old unit was better than this!! What a RIP OFF!! I also had a routine service call in the past 2 months and at that time the technician said I needed new duct work. WHY did they not tell me this BEFORE I got the new unit?! The ONLY time this company cares is during the sales process. Once they get the sale, they no longer care!! I'm thinking maybe 8 On Your Side and The Pace Program would care.

This company has far exceeded my expectations.. At first, I was a little skeptical of a business that could take care of every home improvement project that I desperately needed. I was quickly shown that ACS not only cares about helping an individual (single mother on a fixed income) like me; but also did so in such an amazing and timely manner. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone looking for a good, quality, and honestly operated company.
