These guys are a complete scam. Everything looks fine ... the fine print screws you. I used them to bridge a rental I had (needed to turn the lights on to show it). I was under contract w/ them for maybe a month, we basically used now power. the unit was empty. Cost me 124 bucks when all was said and done. In a better world, the garbage these guys pull would be illegal.

This was a terrible decision for me as a first time renter but I'd just graduated college and the lure of prepaid electricity , with no bills , sounded GREAT.

Well it wasn't.

Here are the issues I had with Acacia:
- they take $10 from what you pay and just keep it . It's called the ""disconnect threshold"" which is bullshit. They disconnect with and without warning

- my electricity was disconnected ""by mistake"" by ACACIA while I had over $100 on this prepaid account. So I had no electricity for hours , without any apology or compensation for it.

-$6 was taken from EVERY Payment of $50 or less. I kid you not. My account always reflected less than what I paid - considering also the extra $10 they kept for NOTHING.

- customer service is incompetent. Their employees can not even explain the plans or rates.

- speaking of plans , don't ever choose one of their valtricity plans. The daily delivery fees are 30 cents . Plus the $6 they take for payments under $50. Plus the $10 they keep for the ""disconnect threshold"" ...

See where I'm going with this?

I'm much happier with frontier utilities and my rate NEVER CHANGES!

The sign up bonus was nice. But super difficult to transfer to a different location. Biggest struggle I swear. Got disconnected and was reconnected pretty quick but didn't warn me about the fee and how much it was. They spam my phone with notifications EVEN WHEN I DONT OWE MONEY YET. Representatives are pretty quick on not leaving you on hold too long though.

If I could give this a lower rating, it wouldn't be low enough. Acacia is the devi'ls spawn. Yes it is convenient that you don't have to pay a deposit, it is not convenient to lose your soul and all your paycheck with it. Acacia will cut you off and charge you a $10 reconnect fee ANY TIME YOUR ACCOUNT FALLS BEFORE 10.01. Even if you go and pay your balance so it comes back above the minimum requirement, they will still cut you off and charge you. I have gone through $50 within the last 3 days!!

Anytime you call you have to lie and say you're a new customer because if you say you're an existing customer they put you straight to voice mail. I finally got into their call system and the woman I spoke to kept giving me irrelevant information about what was going on. When I asked for a supervisor I was put on hold for 17:43 MINUTES before someone else picked up. The man 'Moyad (number 052)' was rude and dismissive and then told me he was the highest supervisor and if I wanted to talk to someone else I would have to find the email on the website and contact them.

Needless to say, I opened a new tab and signed up with a new provider.

Acacia Energy = Slightly convenient for those that have to pay deposit some place else BUT NOT WORTH THE NIGHTMARE of cruddy customer service.
