I began my career as a painter alongside my uncle in Vista, CA, back in 1973 while still in high school. Upon graduation, I relocated to Utah, where I pursued construction studies in college and worked in the tile sector and a cabinet manufacturing firm. I started my own painting business, then moved on to renovate and sell my own projects. By chance, my sister wanted to build a home in Carmichael, CA, which brought me back to Sacramento. Once her home was finished, I restarted my business, and now, 27 years later, I continue to thrive.

I’m Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and construction has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I don’t know how many wood structures I created as a child; any loose board became a part of my projects, whether above ground or below. In high school, my friend and I took a home construction class, hoping to kickstart our careers in the building trade. After a family loss, I had the opportunity to move to San Diego, CA, and I never returned home. I graduated from high school in Vista and took a job painting for my uncle. My parents then moved to Crescent City, CA, prompting me to join them for another remodeling project. I went back to Utah for a few years, gaining experience in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. Next, I moved to Sacramento, CA, to build a home for my sister in Carmichael. After finishing her house, I launched Abreu Enterprises, starting with painting and gradually adding tile setting and drywall. And now, 27 years later, I’m still active in the renovation business.
