I began my career as a painter alongside my uncle in Vista, CA, back in 1973 while still in high school. After finishing high school, I headed to Utah to study construction and worked in the tile industry and a cabinet manufacturing company. I started my own painting business, then moved on to renovate and sell my own projects. Coincidentally, my sister chose to build a house in Carmichael, CA, leading me back to Sacramento. Once her home was finished, I restarted my business, and now, 27 years later, I continue to thrive.

I’m Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and construction has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I lost track of how many wooden shacks I constructed as a kid; any stray board found its way into my projects, both above and below ground. In high school, my friend and I took a home construction class, hoping to kickstart our careers in the building trade. Following a relative's passing, I moved to San Diego, CA, and I didn’t go back. I finished high school in Vista and worked with my uncle as a painter. Later, my parents moved to Crescent City, CA, so I followed them for another remodeling project. I went back to Utah for a few years, gaining experience in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. Then, I moved to Sacramento, CA, to build a home for my sister in Carmichael. Once her home was done, I founded Abreu Enterprises, beginning with painting and later branching into tile setting and drywall. Today, 27 years later, I remain here, still dedicated to renovation.
