I began my career as a painter alongside my uncle in Vista, CA, back in 1973 while still in high school. After finishing high school, I headed to Utah to study construction and worked in the tile industry and a cabinet manufacturing company. I then took the leap to work independently as a painter, later transitioning to renovating and selling my own projects. By chance, my sister wanted to build a home in Carmichael, CA, which brought me back to Sacramento. After completing her home, I reestablished my firm, and now, 27 years later, I’m still here.

I’m Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and construction has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I don’t know how many wood structures I created as a child; any loose board became a part of my projects, whether above ground or below. In high school, a friend and I enrolled in a home construction class, eager to start our journey in the building trade. After a family loss, I had the opportunity to move to San Diego, CA, and I never returned home. I completed high school in Vista and worked as a painter for my uncle. Eventually, my parents relocated to Crescent City, CA, and I moved there for another remodeling job. I spent a few years back in Utah, working in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. Next, I moved to Sacramento, CA, to build a home for my sister in Carmichael. After finishing her house, I launched Abreu Enterprises, starting with painting and gradually adding tile setting and drywall. Now, 27 years later, I’m still here, continuing to renovate.
