I began my career as a painter alongside my uncle in Vista, CA, back in 1973 while still in high school. After graduating, I moved to Utah to study construction in college and gained experience in the tile industry and with a cabinet manufacturing company. Eventually, I ventured out on my own as a painter, then progressed to renovating my own projects and selling them. Coincidentally, my sister chose to build a house in Carmichael, CA, leading me back to Sacramento. After completing her home, I reestablished my firm, and now, 27 years later, I’m still here.

My name is Ken Abreu, born in 1955, and I feel like construction has been my lifelong passion. I don’t know how many wood structures I created as a child; any loose board became a part of my projects, whether above ground or below. During high school, I signed up for a home construction class with a friend, excited to begin our careers in the building industry. Following a relative's passing, I moved to San Diego, CA, and I didn’t go back. I graduated from high school in Vista and took a job painting for my uncle. My parents then moved to Crescent City, CA, prompting me to join them for another remodeling project. I spent a few years back in Utah, working in ceramic tile, cabinetry, and framing. Next, I moved to Sacramento, CA, to build a home for my sister in Carmichael. Once her home was done, I founded Abreu Enterprises, beginning with painting and later branching into tile setting and drywall. Now, 27 years later, I’m still here, continuing to renovate.
