I was very disappointed to learn that this company will not itemize their billing - I went on line and found the water heater they replaced and found retail price is 569.95 and they charge 1519.00 to replace that means they charge 1000.00 parts and labor they did give me a discount of 261.00 but I feel their prices are extreme. I would never do business with them again. Be sure you are aware of their pricing before allowing them to do any work

So my story actually starts off pretty miserably (but it gets better!). I'd just moved in to a new house with a Reem Tankless Water Heater and the first shower I tried to take, it threw an error code and stopped working after 2-3 minutes. I looked on Reem's website and it said that Able was a Reem certified company so I called them and spoke with at least 2 different people 2-3 different times making very clear that I had a problem with a Reem product and they never once said anything about how they didn't work with Reem. They discussed it with me, set up appointements, answered questions, etc.

Then the day that the plumber was supposed to come out (Bryan A.) he calls and says that he doesn't work on Reems and so there's nothing he can do. I. Was. Pissed. Mostly because no one up to that point had said they didn't work on Reems and now I'm a week deep of having to take 2 minute showers; not to mention dealing with all of this while I'm at work (at a job where I can't just leave in the middle of the day to go deal with issues at home). I was ready to chew everyone out when I spoke with Bryan again and he apologized for what was going on and explained that they had never signed on to be Reem certified, that they had only worked on a Reem previously and apparently Reem had taken it upon themselves to show Able on their website.

After that, working with Bryan was amazing. He came out and looked at it to make sure that there wasn't anything he could do and offered some suggestions. After I couldn't handle the stupid thing (the water heater, not Bryan!) anymore, he was there the next day with a tank water heater and spent the day installing it. He went over the whole thing with me - use, maintenance, etc., and ever offered some suggestions about other stuff around the house. It was installed beautfilly and it's worked great for the last few months I've had it.

I would have given a 5 star but I had to deduct one because of the people who told me in the beginning that it wouldn't be a problem to work on it, when that clearly wasn't true. But Bryan totally restored my faith after I was ready to curse everyone's name, haha. He was a total lifesaver and I really appreciate everything he did. Thanks Bryan!

Bryan A. was absolutely a life saver. Lightning struck my street and my hot water heater pipes burst. The after hours service dispatcher was amazing and got right back to me that a plumber could come out right away. Bryan was able to arrive at 11:30 pm! I was amazed. After checking with several plumbers in the area, Able Plumbing was the best after hours service rate, offered an affordable price for the repairs needed, and had all the parts right in the van. He replaced the pipes right away. Thank you Able Plumbing for stopping the flood in my house and for not taking advantage of me during an emergency. Nothing like waking up to a freezing cold shower! This morning our ancient water heater finally expired and there was no urging it back to life. We called Able Plumbing, who had taken good care of us in the past. I really appreciated that they called to let us know they were on their way, rather than telling me a block of time, which would have required me staying home and missing work. I met with Brian A. and he was very clear and explained things to me as he went. I had replaced a water heater in a rental property a few years back so I knew what to expect and could recognize he gave me a very good price for all the work that had to be done to bring everything up to code. We talked through the options and he never once pressured me one direction or the other. He was thorough and when he left the area was neat and tidy, even though he had been drilling in drywall.

I too was ripped off by Able. They also do electrical. I asked them to come out to fix two outdoor lights. They explained that they would come out and give an estimate and that there's a $49.00 charge for the estimate which would be waived if we had the work done. The tech came out and explained, in order to find the problem he would have to run a diagnostic test of some sort which would cost around $250.00. I told him no and I was still stuck with paying the $49.00. Why couldn't they have told me about this test before coming out? I guess it's so either way they'll get some money from me. Do not call Able Plumbing of Chico. You'll end up paying more.



1 - Able Plumbing & Electrical is the only company in Butte County that charges for estimates.

2 - After receiving an estimate from Able I contacted another company. The other company did a great job on fixing my problem and charged nearly half the amount Able wanted to charge.

Bottom Line: Able Plumbing & Electrical in Chico, Oroville, Paradise, etc, is a rip off. You can get free estimates from the other companies and you can get the work done for a lot less with the other companies.

I had a problem with my electrical junction box at my house.

Able Electric quoted over $3000 to replace the entore thing.

I called a 2nd licenced electrician (Shields) who quoted $1000 for the exact same work...although Shields said they COULD replace the box, they didnt need to. They replaced a couple off parts and I was good to fo for less than $100.

Headed to work this morning and heard water running outside. Yikes! Busted outside sprinkler pipe. I had to turn the water off to the house. I called Able Plumbing and a very pleasant, professional woman answered the phone. She told me they would have someone out today to fix the problem. Bryan B arrived as scheduled, diagnosed the problem, and discussed my options. Fortunately, the low cost option worked like a charm and in less than an hour I had water again!

I would highly recommend this company for plumbing service.

We recently had someone come out to install a 220 outlet for range. He said he would line it up so the range would be flush with the wall. Well he didn't. he put the outlet in upside down so the range was not flush with the counter. Just plain lazy work. Then a few days we had a horrible gas smell. PG&E was called and agreed we had a gas problem. The problem was the Able plumber did not properly tighten the connector cord. A very rookie move. I paid good money for this and now I feel like any Craigslist lister could of done a better job. Final thoughts - very expensive and would not recommend

Punctual & courteous but shoddy work.
I had to hire another Electrician to clean up their after they finished.
The job was to install a 220 outlet. They installed it but they didn't recess the outlet into the wall, making my appliance stick out an extra 3-4"" (the appliance was my gas range/electric oven) so it looked awful in the kitchen.
They charged me $750. AND I needed to have another electrician come and fix their inferior work.
I won't call Able again...they weren't able.
