a month ago called to have flourescent light bulb fixed. $159. Two weeks later same problem and Lee says it would be $79 to come look at it. negotiated to $40. electrician only reseats bulbs which I would have done but had neck surgery and could not at this time. problem occurs again last night and call ABC and Lee says the electrician thought a new light fixture is needed now. incredible how the electrician did not discover this the first time . Will never use these people again or recommend.

I would not recommend this company to anyone !! They came out and tried to say that my issue was something different and more money I mean thousands more then it was. I called to dispute they would not listen and I feel they don't know what they are doing in the electrical field and are con artist trying to get as much as they can. Very sad to take advantage of people. Don't use this company !! It would be different if they owned up to mistakes but they do not.

Hate to give terrible reviews but I used ABC for all the electrical work for my kitchen remodel about 6 or 7 years ago. The man who did all the work was wonderful so I called them back to ask them to take care of several small projects. I was not looking for a bid or estimate...just wanted them to send someone out to do the work and its all minor electrical work any qualified electrician can do like installing light fixtures, fixing a plug, installing smoke detectors, etc.... When I called, I told them I wanted all this done in one trip and to just send someone out. He went on and on about how its not that easy to just send someone out and do electrical work without first studying the request and giving estimate, and evaluating the project, etc..etc..etc.. Seriously...how hard is it to install lights, fix a plug, and replace existing smoke detectors that are already wired? He wanted to send someone out, charge a fee for the trip and would not confirm if the person he is sending could do all that work and would in fact do it on the same day he came out. Apparently they don't value repeat customers!

DO NOT USE! VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. My husband and I were trying to have a light fixture installed and called for a quote, Robert came out and met with my husband on a Wed. He gave us a quote said he could be back on Fri or Sat to install. My husband wouldn't be unavailable those days and called me at work to see if I could be there. I chose Sat and when my husband asked Robert what time he said he could be out between 9-9:30. I was on the phone when Robert responded and wrote that time down, as did my husband.

I waited on Sat and he didn't show between 9-9:30, I call the office at 10 and they say our appt is at 12. When Robert shows up at 12 he asks if I am expecting him. I told him I was expecting him at 9AM. He asked if I was angry and I said I was annoyed because he told me he would be there at 9 and I was hoping to be at work by 12. He then told me about how he had written 12 on his legal pad and that's what he had told the office. I told him that may be the case but that's not what he verbally told my husband and I. He then proceeded to tell me that if I was angry he needed to leave and he did. Never once did he acknowledge he COULD have made a mistake or that there MAY have been a misunderstanding. Had he done this I probably would have let it go and proceeded with the call. My husband and I BOTH heard and wrote down 9-9:30.

When I called the office and spoke with Lee he essentially supported his brother (Robert) and was very condescending to me. He said there was no way Robert made a mistake and that Robert reported that I had been ""hostile"" to him at the door. I tried explaining my side to Lee about why I was annoyed about having to wait and being late to work but Lee just proceeded to go on about how Robert wouldn't make a mistake and how good of a person he is and how he only wants to help people. Every time I tried to talk he would interrupt or talk over me. In the end, his position was that I was the one who made a mistake and needed to get over it. Both individuals were very unprofessional and NO attempt to diffuse the situation or take any responsibility was made.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.. I made the major mistake of using them before I read these reviews!

I left my home at 6am needing to drive to Dallas, my wife was at home and told me that the kitchen lights stopped working. I told her that I would call someone to come out and fix the issue. I was very surprised that ABC Electric was so available!! (I understand why now!!)

Lee, answers the phone (Hi, ABC Electric how can we make you smile today!), which is so comical that he actually says this... I asked for a quick appointment and he said we should be able to get someone out there between 10-12 this morning. He said there was a $73 trip charge for the drive out to my house, I said fine.

At this point, my wife and 2 kids are at home alone.. this is the part that really upsets me, I'll never make this mistake again.. Robert Stange shows up at my home and my wife (who doesn't understand anything to do with electrical work) greets Robert and he promptly tells here there is a $249 diagnosis authorization charge before he can start looking at anything. My wife calls me and tells me about this so I asked her what all that entails, which she said it would mean he would review and search for the problem and then fix one minor issue in the home but that the $249 charge was just an authorization and would not be the full amount due.

At this point, we think we think we're only responsible for the $73 trip fee and at some point he's going to tell us what the issue is and fix the problem and give us a ""real"" estimate. I am not at home but from what my wife calls and tells me, Robert has fixed the issue. Robert Stange leaves.

Shortly after Robert leaves, my wife calls my cellphone. She tells me that Robert did not fix the issue and that the lights are now turning off and on by themselves. I tell her that I'm going to call Lee. I call Lee and he answers ""ABC Electric, how can we make you smile today!""... I start off my telling Lee that I really appreciate them getting out there so fast but that the issue seems to still be going on. Lee said that he spoke with Robert and that Robert said it was a bad dimmer. I asked Lee to explain how he knew that, but Lee said he wasn't sure but that Robert probably used a volt meter to test the amps. Lee said he wasn't sure but that he would get Robert to go back out to our home... THIS IS WHERE THINGS GO SOUTH!!

I hang up with Lee and shortly there after, my wife calls me, ""What did you say to Lee?"".. I explain to her that I didn't understand what the issue was and I was not understanding why our lights still did not work?? My wife proceeds to tell me how Robert is acting, he is going on and on about how, ""I"" was challenging his experience and how if ""Someone didn't understand the issue that they didn't understand reality!!"". Robert is going on and on raising his arms at my wife and telling her that the issue is with the dimmer and that he has XX number of years of experience and if you don't get that then you aren't living in reality!

My wife calls my cellphone.. She puts Robert on the phone... I ask Robert to explain to me what TEST he did to determine the dimmer was bad, he said he did NO test and that the dimmer was bad.. I ask him to use a meter or ANYTHING that would actually determine the dimmer was bad and that even though Robert ""feels"" he's 100% accurate, that I was paying $322 for him to ""guess"" the dimmer was bad. Robert said that he knew the dimmer was bad and that's all he could do.. I asked Robert to take the dimmer right next to the bad dimmer (in the same box FYI) and swap it out to make sure, Robert said that would be $56. I lastly asked Robert to swap the dimmer out with a brand new dimmer I had left out on the counter before I left, he said no as that was a ""customer supplied"" dimmer and be a charge.

At this point, with his attitude and the inability to FIX the issue, Robert was leaving our house with the lights still broken and going off and on by themselves.... I want you to understand that this is a fire hazard and ROBERT should have fixed the issue before he left.. my wife and children could have died in a house fire because of his NOT wanting to fix the issue. If nothing else, I would have settled for him to at least shut off the power before he left, but he didn't.

After Robert leaves, my wife calls me again.. she explains how scared she was and goes into great detail how Robert basically BITC**** her out and how upset he was that he had to make a second trip. She told me that she tried to tell Robert that she didn't have anything to do with this and that she didn't need him going on and on and on about what the issue was and why his precious time was being challenged. My wife was very scared of his 6'4"" build and having this man in our home was a huge mistake!

I felt taken advantage of. First they schedule a time to come. Just prior to coming out they need a $79.00 travel fee. Then they get there and before they fix a thing they need a $249.00 Diagnostic Fee, which includes 1 small repair. Of course it is late on a weekend and you have no choice, so 1 small light switch ends up costing $379.00. I am not kidding, the switch replaced, cost $3.99 at Home Depot. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time I have had this happen with them. A qualified honest Electrician wolud have taken off the wall plate, replaced the switch and it would have been $99. I would not recommend them

ABC was recently hired to perform a very simple job at our office in Austin. The electrician was a total ass hole and on top of that, had an issue with women. In fact, sine he could not fix the problem, he blamed it on a lamp that had already been returned 3 times for flickering and worked at my home perfectly. He was a lazy electrician who bad mouthed the customer and didn't fix the problem. Yet demanded to be paid. I would never use them again and do not recommend them. I rate them at a zero.

I called ABC after finding them on the BBB website to add an outlet above my fireplace for my TV and possible wiring for some in wall speakers. I was very suprised when they had someone at the house within 2 hours to give me a quote. After deciding that the speakers were just not going to be worth the cost of the extra work I just decided to do the outlet behind the tv. Now I know these guys are there to sell extra work but Robert was very polite and understanding when I told him I just didn't want to spend the extra $ on the speakers. We set the appt for 9am on saturday (which also suprised me that they worked weekends without an extra charge) and he showed up on time and was done in just a couple of hours. Robert was great and cleaned up the drywall mess before he left. In a nutshell it was alot better experience than I expected and would highly recomend him to all my friends and family.

He did more than I expected of him and the job was completed before the time He gave me. Moreover He did an excellent job and clean everything after the work was completed. Tech had to be called back to fix both items he worked on. Both times he refused to take responsibility. He returned after the first call and fixed the problem. The second call ended in a screaming match with me being told I was not honest, I was unreasonable, and I was wrong. He refused to come check his work without charging another fee. DO NOT USE.
