Totally took advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I wonder if each of their plumbers set the rate based on what he thinks you can pay. I had a 15' repair of a pipe (pinhole leak). They charged over $700. Then said I had a bad valve in water heater (4 years old) and charged over $400 to replace that. Learned later it was a $20 part and 5 minute job. Garbage disposal quote over $400- All other quotes were around $100. Got them to come down on that a little. Plumber later admitted he works on commission and business was down 85% due to pandemic. I had other plumbing needs but decided to cut my losses. Fancy trucks, tv advertising = super high prices. I think I will report them to Attorney General. Could have had my long term loyalty but they blew it!

I have a clogged kitchen drain. Got a quote for 560 dollar to unclogged. Their guys might be great but charging 2-3 times the going rate is way too high. So I had to pay the 50 dollar service fee to not accept the work. What a time wasted.

We've used Abacus 3 times. They do a good job, but their prices for everything is 2-3 times what it should be, and that's with the membership.
I'm going to have to shop around. :(

Needed a switch replaced and was told that my fairly new home needed new breakers and a completely reconfigured breaker box. The electrician was visibly agitated when I balked and told me to get second opinions, that any electrician will tell me the same. Well, I did get 2 more opinions, and neither agreed that this work was necessary! Basically told me that they were trying to sell me services that I didn't need!

We discovered water leaking out the side of our house from inside the wall, coming from our bathroom. The plumber showed up as promised but proceeded to rip tiles out of our wall around our bathtub fixtures, stripped the screw for the faucet handle, ""guessed"" that the leak was coming from under the tub, and quoted us over $3000 to pull the tub out and fix the leak. And charged $470 for absolutely nothing. We decided to get a second opinion from another company and sure are glad we did. It took him no time at all to pinpoint that the leak was actually coming from behind our dual sinks. My husband and I are absolutely livid over our experience with Abacus and will never recommend them to anyone else. Now we're left with a torn-up wall and fixture that we have to shell out even more money to repair.

Very helpful as friendly plumber, also owner of the company, who came to clean my tankless water heater to troubleshoot an odd problem I was having, and after completing even tried helping me troubleshoot and brainstorm the issue otherwise. The cleaning of the tankless water heater was less costly than other places and seems to have solved the problem. I'd definitely give them a call again next time I need a plumber.

I decided to have Abacus over to check and clean my system for their BAM cooling offer. They said my units probably need replacement soon, and offered to replace my two systems for around $24,000! I declined of course, and the ysaid I needed to replace my start and run capacitors for about $1000 dollars! I also declined this offer and changed them myself for about $35 dollars on capacitors from Amazon. I understand they have trained technicians and need to pay them but this is ridiculous. I will never let any Abacus employee step foot in my home again. They insulted me in my own home far beyond forgiveness.

I use Abacus for AC/Heating, Plumbing and Electrical. Because I was using them so much I decided to sign up for the year membership which includes annual inspections and savings on repairs. They always answer the phone and can get you quickly scheduled which I really appreciate. I will say that the quality of technicians can swing drastically though - I wonder if they've stopped doing thorough checks? I had one electrician lose my switch cover screw I had just installed and tell me I didn't have it when he got there (I had literally just put it on the day before so knew 100% it was there). Minor frustration but not a big deal- he ended up finding it in his truck. I also had another guy who spoke very little English who came by to do my AC inspection - He checked in with Abacus that he had arrived and was doing work but was literally nowhere to be found - They even asked me if he was in my house!! I said ""ummm no- there's only one way in and it's got a camera - he has not been here!"" Turns out he was waiting down the street at the wrong house. Now he was a super sketch guy. Mentioned he was an engineer from Africa who had come here for work. Something didn't add up to me. But besides him, most other technicians have been great! Sometimes they can recommend expensive upgrades, which you don't have to do. But the good technicians can answer all your questions. I like them for the peace of mind and ease in scheduling. To me it's easier than going with a random individual from Thumbtack for a job. Houston can be overwhelming and lots of sketchy people out! I have found Abacus to be very reliable.

Ryan came out to service my AC in the summer and was exceptional. Eric D. serviced my heater for the winter and was just as wonderful. The customer service could not have been better. Both technicians were prompt, kind and personable, honest, thorough, and informative. Thank you for the excellent services! I will continue to recommend Abacus to others.

Abacus Electrical replaced our house service panel. Ricardo and Mike did a great job, started on time, and worked extra hours to finish the job and cleanup the site. Ricardo is an excellent professional and teacher. I highly recommend working with Ricardo!
