Abacus is amazing. Their dispatch team calls Daily with the eta of their crew. Jason Purvis was on time and explained everything fully and expedited the steps for my plumbing issues. He had his other co-worker Bob Connelly come out on the same day with the camera. Both are awesome to work with. I will call them with any of my plumbing needs. They are GREAT!!

Chris has provided excellent service to us for years. He excels in customer service and customer satisfaction. I have been a keen advocate of Abacus plumbing since our first experience having a new water heater installed 7 years ago. In my opinion the rewards of the plumbing club membership are unbeatable.

Scam alert! Called to get a drain line cleared for my AC unit. Technician showed up and announced we needed an all new AC system, it was rusty and moldy and gas was leaking from it. Uhhh....what? We had just had it looked over two years ago by Abacus who said while the coils were a bit rusty, it still looked pretty good. I doubt in two years it would be in that bad of a condition.
The lowest, most loathesome tactic was telling us that because we had kids (he GASPED aloud and was over the top dramatic) we needed to fix the ""danger"" right away. For $11,000!!!!
I am seething mad. I paid $50 to have a dishonest technician come and make a sales pitch for an AC unit we don't need. We will never, ever use them again.

I took a long time to get around to writing this review but it means even more now. I called Abacus out to look at a water heater that I couldn't get the pilot light lit after it went out one day. The technician was super nice and got it back on for me but then told me I needed a new water heater because the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. He gave me several quotes, the cheapest of which was $2600! That is a lot of money when I could go to Home Depot to get a new one for the same capacity around $600. So I started Googling of all things on what could be wrong. I've worked on a lot of appliances around the house but never a gas water heater. The gas was a little intimidating for me and why I called a service company in the first place besides being really busy.
I decided I just needed to replace the thermocoupling unit based on the pilot light not staying on. Guess what... that part which was less than $30 was the only thing I needed and the water heater is still going strong a year after this occurred! I was irritated enough at the time of fixing it myself that I called the manager of Abacus about a month later to explain what had happened. I told him that that I was frustrated I was told I needed a new water heater instead of the technician just replacing the part that I did. It was so simple that it was the first thing that popped up in my Google searches and a tech should have known right away what needed to be replaced. NOT the whole damn thing! The manager told me the tech was young and inexperienced and that was my only reason. I call BS on that because I have never worked on a water heater and figured it out very quickly. So always get a second opinion any time a major cost of replacement is given and especially with this company.

Worse than car saleman - $491 and half day wasted. Somehow they got 5 star and a ton reviews on BBB - I don't believe it. I'm sure Yelp has the real customer rating.
CenterPoint already tested and located the gas leak inside the wall. However, Abacus was all about selling and getting the most money out of me with little regard to fixing my gas leak. After the round about up selling, I just asked their plumbing guy to leave. I still don't know where the leak is and got hit almost $500 but I refuse to further business with these shady practices.

We contacted Abacus for estimates for HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical services and my complaint is how high the estimates were. We have a small home, under 800 sq.ft., 2 bedrooms, 1 bath that needed to be re-wired, needed a/c and heat, and needed to be plumbed. Now mind you the house is now considered a new home, since it had major repairs after Harvey meaning home has to be rewired and has no plumbing or HVAC services.
The estimate to plumb the house with water, gas and sewer was $61,400.00. I couldn't believe this!!!! Heck, it was $5,800 just for the Tankless water heater.
The electrical estimate was $13,759 at membership rate, $15,931 non-member rate.
The HVAC for a Goodman 2 ton 14 seer gas system was $16,613 at regular rate and $13,237 for the membership rate.

I decided to write this review because I needed a house repipe and other plumbing repairs and I was definitely worried.Abacus arrived and they gave impeccable service.Thank you!!!!!

I had an emergency situation, today on a Saturday. They said the earliest they could get to me was.....WEDNESDAY!! I will not be using them again! THANK YOU ROTO ROOTER FOR YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE!!

Abacus installed furnace and airconditioner about 3 years ago. In August 2017 i started having water leak in kitchen right below the furnace. Abacus immediately sent water remediation team that removed ceiling and took care of water for $1200 . After several visits by air guy, plumber, another air guy they determined the unit was not level and therefore pooled under the unit until sheet rock failed. Except for water damage, repairs made without charge to me. However, i have no confidence in integrety of unit after water issues and with the amount of back and forth have no confidence in warranty of work. I never received refund of $1200 which a service manager, David i think was name, promised since damage caused by install which was not my fault. They did point out i need a new water heater which i do, but will NOT use Abacus. They are pricy and this experience showed they are not so reliable if they do the job wrong.

We wanted to get the individual systems of the home we were in contract to buy inspected. These guys wanted $400, each, for the electrical, plumbing, and AC. When I asked why that was at least triple what everyone else charged, they said it was because I wasn't the homeowner! That's a good way to make sure I will never use their services. Give these guys a miss - there are plenty more professionals with a much better review profile and business model.
