Unless you enjoy the feeling of being taken advantage of and getting ripped off, avoid doing business with this company!!! Their prices are ridiculously high! I was charged nearly $500.00 just to have one of their guys come out and get a few lights working again, as the SP switch was in trip mode. Their employee simply reterminated the wire. It took 2 minutes to fix the problem. Instead, the guy spent three hours here & we were charged $500.00 (including a non-refundable $59.00 dispatch fee).
One reviewer (John G.) mentioned that AAA will waive the dispatch fee if one agrees to have them perform work. That is simply NOT true! After seeing John's comment, I called and asked to have the fee waived. A few days later, the general manager called me back and proceeded to argue with me and boast about how great his company is. He was rude, argumentative, and refused to refund the dispatch fee. I certainly did not get the feeling that he values customers from his combative call.
Every company with which I have done business has always waived the fee for driving out to our place if we decide to hire them. That is NOT the case with AAA. I will be taking my business elsewhere and I encourage you to do the same, as I'd hate to see someone get taken advantage of in the way we were.
S C.We have used AAA multiple times over the last six years at our home and business. For me, professionalism, honesty, and exceptional work are three qualities I seek out. For me all three are incredibly important with electrical installations or repairs, especially for my 1950s house.
For the last project in our house, they moved a light box to allow for the installation of a lighted mirror cabinet, which included moving some wiring to get it all to work.
As is typical, their service and work was exceptional. (Richard is an especially wonderful technician who has worked at our home and office)
Nigel N.AAA Electrical Services offers decent services and knowledgeable technicians but their prices are through the roof. The major plus is they stand behind their workmanship. Three years ago, our house needed electrical wiring fixed in the laundry room and we wound up paying $3,000. It's been working fine since then. I once called them on a Saturday night regarding an issue with our electrical sockets not working. AAA charges a $59.00 service fee but with additional surcharges it wound up setting my family back $260.00 for a Saturday service charge.
The most unprofessional company I have ever I countered in my 15 years of business. I was trying to get an estimate and when the lady asked how I was paying for the ""dispatch fee?"" I told her I just needed an estimate at this time and she hung up on me!!!
I too thought they were expensive.. they charge $59.00 bucks ""Dispatch Fee"" plus another $17.75 for their gas and that ""Warehouse on Wheels"" to get to you. I just wanted a fan switch replaced, didn't expect it to cost almost $300 bucks and took 2 guys 4 hours to do! Don't think I will be calling them again..
They are a good company, very professional and respectful. Unfortunately they are also very, very expensive. I had an estimate on putting a ceiling light of in two of my rooms as well as installing a ceiling fan. I had anticipated a cost maybe up to $1,000 for the job. I knew I could find a journeyman to do it cheaper but i liked the idea of having a bonded electrician doing the work.
They charge $59 for an estimate. I didn't mind paying it because they take that off the cost of the job if you chose to do the work. I assumed their pricing wouldn't be that crazy but I was wrong. The estimates they gave me were from $2600 to $1700. I was shocked. For two light boxes and a ceiling fan install into an existing box, this seemed way above reasonable.
The reps were very nice and professional. It's nothing against them. I feel bad for them trying to sell to people with these prices. I feel they would stand behind their work 100% but for these prices, I'll take my chances elsewhere.
EDIT: got a second quote from a journeyman. He said he would do it for $200. So to recap, their pricing was $1700 to $2600. But someone else is willing to do it for $200.
Tom O.They did good work as far as I can tell. The serviceman was professional, timely and considerate of not getting my house dirty. However, their pricing is OUTRAGEOUS for the work that is done. I was in somewhat of a desperate situation to get the electricity in my kitchen back to full function or I would not have continued with the work at those prices. I would not use this company again not because of the work they did but because they took advantage of me in the ridiculous price they charged for the work that was performed.
If you want an electrician who is going to try to up-sell you and convince you that you need services that are completely unecessary, then you should go with this company. I am not sure who they are used to dealing with, but it was as if they thought I was born yesterday. They charge $59 just to come out and give you an estimate and then they try to hit you with a bunch of smoke and mirrors while they are there so that they can suck as much money out of you as possible. I could explain the story and go on for days, but basically it comes down to this:
AAA wanted to charge me $3300 for a service that I ended up paying $550 after calling around and finding an honest electrician!
I needed a few of my circuit breakers and buss bar replaced and was told by a person at SMUD who came out to look at my breaker box that I should be on the look-out for electricians who would try to charge me thousands of dollars for the repair. The guy from AAA came out and told me that it was going to be $1850 to replace the entire breaker box. This apparently is pretty commensurate with the industry standard for that type of repair; however, he then proceeded to try to charge me $400 to get the permit from the city, $100 to put a sticker on my new breaker box that would label my breakers, and $450 to re-frame and paint around the new breaker box! $450 for paint?! Really?! After I told him I would paint it myself, he dropped the price down to $250 to re-frame it without paint. There were some additional charges that he wanted to stick in there too, all of which added up to $3300. Not only that, he told me that SMUD would require me to have certain underground lines to comply with their new codes and that he would be able to bring everything up to code for an addtional $950. But, it I didn't have certain lines already in place underground, then he was going to have to charge me an additional $2,000 to dig up my lawn and put them in. All in all, he was telling me that my worst case scenario price would be about $6400. But, of course, they would allow me to finance it at 20% interest if I needed to. MInd you, the guy from SMUD never mentioned these additional concerns to me at all and SMUD was being blamed for these possible additional charges the whole time!
After calling around and finding someone who wasn't trying to take advantage of me, I found out that I didn't even need my entire breaker box replaced. My husband went out and bought all of the necessary supplies and pulled the permit from the city himself. With those things in place, we found a reputable electrician who completed the repair for $300, bringing our total cost after supplies etc. to $550. This is pretty much what the guy from SMUD originally told me I would have to pay for it.
I feel like it should be illegal for a company to take advantage of a customer the way that AAA was trying to take advantage of me. Unfortunately, I'm sure they get away with it all the time.
Courtney D.After a return call to AAA my opinion of their service has changed. I was not happy with the owner's response to an issue I had with their installation. I believe that a simple misunderstanding did not need to become an issue.
I have been both impressed and disappointed with their service however after my last exchange it is hard for me to recommend them.
Dont get caught up with these guys and their outrageous pricing structure. The 59.00 service call didnt even come close. Changed a recepticle, rehung a fan with a new box and out the door 3 1/2 hrs later and I am 650.00 poorer.
