The guy was pretty nice. He's fixed my microwave before. It broke again so I called him. He said it would be 150 for the service call. I thought that was a little steep and frankly most places seem to have that worked into the repair so I planned on that. When it was all done, (about 15 to 20 minutes tops) he added 150 to the $350-= $450. I wasn't happy with that, but I went with it and moved on. This was in November. In March it broke again same problem I called he said it was under warranty but it will still cost me another $150 for the service charge for him to come out and look at it. Not a happy camper. If something is guaranteed it should be guaranteed not cost me another $150.

I just recently hired A 1 Electric to change my breaker panel they did an excellent job. One of the things I liked is that they are honest they told me exactly what needs to get done and what they are going to do. And the number one thing about A1 Electrical is that they are professional.

Also their quote was half of the other companies quotes.

I will upload the pictures of their work later.

I had A1 Electrical install voice and data in my office. Alex, the technician arrived on time and was very polite. Initially I was very concerned that the job was going to be too complicated. But Alex did a great job! Everything was so neat and clean. It was as if no one had been in my office, but yet it all worked perfectly! I will definitely contact A1 for any future electrical needs.

On Aug 30, 2016 I contacted A-1 Electrical to troubleshoot an electrical problem at a rental house in Granite Bay. I am the property manager and owner of this rental property. My usual electrician was on vacation, so I had to try a new service and gave A-1 a chance to earn my business. I was told they could make it out here the following day and there would be an $89 service fee to check it out. I was also told if it was an ""easy fix"", there would be no additional charge.

The electrician was to be there between 11 and noon. My tenant let me know he had got there just after noon. Before 1pm I received a phone call from my tenant stating that he was gone, the job was all done and that the worker had replaced 2 outlets and one breaker. I thought, great! Obviously I never received a call authorizing any work, he was there less then 1 hour, so I expected to receive an $89 bill plus materials (about $20-$25 total).

I soon received an invoice for $304. The $89 service fee, and a flat rate of $65 per outlet/receptical ($130) and $85 per breaker ($85), was how they arrived at the total of $304. Parts did not cost more then $25 so this equates to a $275+ per hour labor rate. This is my math and very conservative with regard to materials cost.

When I e-mailed the company to express my complaint about not having received a phone call authorizing such work and the high hourly rate, I received a reply that in short said this was their standard billing and practice. She also stated that the going rate for such work could have been between $723 - $905 and that I got it at more then half price. In that same e-mail reply I was made to feel that the company was doing me a favor by giving me a next day appointment (they did squeeze me in the day after I had called), but I truly felt as if they thought I should be appreciative of their service and pricing, rather then their company appreciating my business. As a fellow business owner one thing I never do is make my customers feel as if I am doing them a favor by providing the service that I chose to get in the business of providing to people, especially if I was to send them a $275 bill for 1 hour of labor.

On top of it all the secretary who wrote the e-mail reply apparently also has a law degree as she warned me of the following.

""If any negative Yelp reviews are left, we will provide response with the above information and copies of all emails to support. Please also be aware that there are laws against libel and slander to protect businesses from unfair negative reviews online or the threat of negative reviews"". I assume this an attempt to intimidate me from writing a review, but it only motivated me more to do so. This is only the second negative yelp review I have ever written.

In the same e-mail reply she also stated, ""We would like to resolve this amicably, but we performed the work per your direction as requested and within 24 hours to accommodate your emergency need"". This is not true. My direction was for a service call and troubleshoot for $89. Had I received the industry standard courtesy call prior to the work being done, and authorized it that would be one thing, but I did not receive any call prior to the work being performed. Apparently, they do not usually ask for work authorization as she wrote, ""this is very standard billing and practices"".

You can read her full reply and justification when they reply to this Yelp review as they said they would and decide for yourself if $304 is reasonable and if they handled my complaint in a way you as a customer would like to be treated.

This is a straight forward review stating the facts. No libel and no slander. The fact is I did not authorize work even though I was available via phone during the service call time. I was billed $304 for a job that took 1 hour and materials cost less then $25. I tried to resolve this by getting the bill reduced, assuming they would at least remove the $89 service call and not add it to the already inflated flat rate, but instead was told I could have been charged twice that and warned about giving negative feedback here on Yelp, and lastly, I was made to feel as if they had done me a favor by providing this service at the rate they charged.

I will continue to work with my usual licensed electrician who would have charged my about $100 for this job.
