I used A-Lumination at my old house a few times and was reasonably happy with their service, so when I moved to a new house I thought I would just have them come do some of the repairs that my home inspection called out. They warned me over the phone about the $89 (!) fee to have an electrician come out... turns out that $89 fee was actually a $105 fee when the tech added in ""taxes"" Not sure where that tax rate is coming from.
The house is an older house and the front half of the house needs to be rewired. This guy they sent out just kept insisting we should just replace the outlets with GFIs rather than rewiring the house. I asked if that was really the right solution and his response was ""It's legal!"" I asked him to quote me both ways rewiring vs his GFI solution and the rewiring came out to $32,000! Research shows this should really be in the $5,000 neighborhood.
The tech could not understand most of the needs called out in the inspection report. I had to explain a few items to him, which should be the other way around. He was a total imbecile that I wasted $105 on, not to mention my time. He also did a lot of that super cool thing where he would interrupt me mid-sentence, and direct his responses to my questions toward my husband. Do not use this company! I'm not sure what has happened here in the intervening years since they used to be OK. But my experience with them today has completely turned me off of them.

Currently rating a 2 until I get a returned call. Dianne is sweet to talk to, gives me her personal number and this impressed me, however; the work was done mid-day on a Tuesday and didn't receive the invoice until Thursday at nearly 1700 tells me there is some disorganization at their level. This was an install of a SimpliSafe camera doorbell they a 24V line and no electric because the home previously had an intercom system.
The worker explained the need for a new transformer and the cost but the final invoice breakdown was more than originally expected. No mention of a ""Truck Fuel Stock Fee"" of $14.95, an "" Electric Diagnostic Level 1"" fee of $176---what does the service fee cover???---because I'm charge for gas and a diagnosis separately which was not explained over the phone , but she kept calling me 'honey' and 'sweetie'!!??? And, a ""Custom Work"" fee of $11.60? For what? Don't the other fees cover this?
After all this, I'm told there is no chime sound inside the house. He suggested I buy a wireless doorbell set from the store. Put the press button next to the camera bell and one chime upstairs and one down!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
Consumer beware of HIDDEN FEES with this company. At this point, I'm waiting on a call back for an explanation since it took over 48 hours to get an email invoice before I consider changing this rating. UPDATE: Finally got a call back from Dianne after leaving two messages and four days later. She was in a class which is understandable.
She never acknowledged she didn't cover all the costs over the phone when the initial call was made. I was only told about the $79 service fee. Dianne offered to return $75 for the hassle to the card I used to pay. I declined because my point of making a dispute was not to get money back, but to give them feedback for better customer service. She insisted and I have yet to see the monies returned.
Then, the technician called and he wanted to argue with me, talked over me and finally I had to BARK to get him to stop, listen to what I had to say and told him to keep quiet until I said my peace. I'm the damn customer. I believe he felt he I was critiquing his work; however, the invoice and charges were the issue.
It also turns out that the Simplisafe bell chimes on the tower inside the house and we need one for upstairs. It also chimes on our phones. Needless to say, BUYER BE WARE of doing business with them unless you get all the costs you can up front.

Terrible! Expensive. One star is too many. Not even competitive with other companies - charged 79$ for a quote - they said the cost would go towards an install but they added it on - so i didn't do it and lost 79$. They said they never saw a ceiling fan like mine and I even helped him look it up on line to see how it was to be installed. I wanted a local family owned company and made a mistake. During these times....this was not the way to do business!

They set an appointment at a time and day and they came earlier when I was not home. They did inspection and took picture and they said they will send me the quote via email. Three days later I called to say I did not get their quote. They reply they would need to come back 4 days later to do it again and come to my back yard. I explained again the urgency to have it on time. They explained they are too busy and cant meet my reasonable time line (a week). I would NOT recommend to doing business with them! They are too busy and have poor follow-up. I have to call them to follow-up.

I purchased an older house which had cloth wiring throughout, and it needed to be replaced. No big deal, I budgeted for it. I called A-Lumination Electric.
Let me start by saying, if a company says they give ""free estimates"" but charge $69 to come out and give the estimate, THE ESTIMATE IS NOT FREE, and they should stop calling it a ""free estimate"".
I told them what I needed done, that the house had cloth wiring that needed to be replaced. They recommended I have them install Alumicons... I did some research, and alumicons are nothing more than connecors for aluminum wiring... So it would have done NOTHING to solve my problem, as cloth wiring would STILL be present in the house, and my homeowners insurance would not have accepted this ""solution"". So they gave me a quote for the rewiring of the house, and the quote came to over $10,000.
My house is only 720 sq. ft.
$10,000 to rewire a house or 720 sq. ft. was outrageous, and way out of my budget.
Distraught over the thought of losing my homeowners insurance, I went to Homeadvisor.com and submitted my information about the job I needed done. I got a call back from Surprise Electric the same day, and they came out to my house that afternoon. They looked it over, and gave me AN ACTUAL FREE ESTIMATE. That's right, they didn't charge me a ridiculous fee just to look at the house.
Surprise Electric got the complete rewire done in less than two weeks for about half the cost of A-Lumination's ridiculous estimate, and they brought my house completely up to code.
If you need electrical work done, skip A-Lumination and call Surprise Electric at 407-580-5015. They'll do a professional job in a timely manner at an affordable price. If I had known about them prior to A-Lumination, I would have saved myself a world or stress.

I was notified by my generator company to reach out to these people. The secretary -- Tammy was very indignant and rude. I am sure that Steve is a nice guy since my generator contact, Chris referred me. First, she TOLD ME when my appointment was (instead of asking when it is convenient for me since I am the customer! ) Then she said she would call me back -- but never did. Then she told me that I would not be getting a appointment.. Period. I asked her -- ""Do you mean I cannot have an appointment AT ALL?"" ( which I thought was very weird since after all, my generator company actually referred me to them! After hemming and hawing... she finally said ""No, you just cant have an appointment today.."" What she SHOULD have said was that she was sorry and would try to find another appointment as soon as possible.. It is so frustrating the way some businesses treat their customers these days --- it is as though they are doing us a FAVOR and it is total drudgery! So unappreciative... times have changed!

Unethical Business!
Our main breaker tripped. We called A-Lumination Electric and the technician diagnosed an ""old electrical panel that can cause a fire"". He said that we needed to replace the entire panel for $2,835. We declined and called a local Master Electrician who noticed that a connection to the main breaker was loose and may have caused an arc. He tightened the fitting and we have not had a problem since. I would caution any person considering this company when in need for electrical services; they follow an unethical business strategy: induce fear that your house may burn down if you don't follow their bogus, outrageous suggestions.

They advertise ""we do not charge for estimates"". It is false advertising.I called to get an up front quote and was told they would need to come out to inspect the job. The fee to come and inspect the job is 69.00 which includes a 10 point inspection. When the gentleman arrived he verbally went over what the job entailed. Replace two outdoor lights (already pre-wired etc..) & check a bathroom exhaust fan. They ask you to sign off on the job prior to work being completed. I asked the gentleman what the 179.00 fee was for at the top of the estimate. He stated that it would be to repair the fan. I asked if that was on top of the service call fee of 69.00, he said no, they would not charge that fee once the work was agreed to. The fan took him literally three to four min. to look at. He determined just by pulling on the encasement of the fan it was a loose wire. My final bill was $427.87 for two lights to be replaced and ( $179.00) for a yank on exhaust fan. I called their main office immediately to question the 179.00 fee for a yank on the fan. The woman debated me on my truthfulness to the fan repair- a simple yank. I told her I stood right next to him and watched exactly what he did. She said there was no way he would charge me that for a yank of the fan. She said she was going to talk to the service rep and call me back with an answer. She never did (no surprise) BEWARE of the scam!! They pull you in with advertising that says ""family owned"" no ""false pricing gauge"".... it's a lie!

I would not trust anyone but A-Lumination Electric, Orlando. FL. I ordered 3 chandeliers for our new construction in Windermere--bedroom, dining room, family room. They were huge & required assembly...lots of crystal.
Our tech did an incredible job. He md sure there were no finger prints on ea. crystal...I didnt tk abt that. We relocated the blder spec. DR fixter fm the dining room to one of the larger guest bedrooms...looks great!
We were so impressed, we asked for the same tech to install the undercounter lighting. He educated us about our options. To our surprise, there was minimal drilling.
When the lights didnt function, he even came back to educate me abt our new fangled switches that turn off when it senses water...my bad. I thought they were glow in the dark find a switch locators or something...lol.

this company is no good. total ripoff. stay away. and very poor customer service .and very unprofessional
