Background
Founded in 1976
At the age of 23, I obtained my general contractor license. Prior to that, I accumulated four years of construction experience, working on antique train cars, boats, and many distinctive homes in the Bay Area.
I was among the youngest licensed contractors in California in 1976.
I received my General Electrical Specialty license in 1986 and a Roofing Specialty license in 1987. For the past 19 years, I have lived on Shannon Road and worked in Los Gatos and the surrounding cities. I plan to continue my electrical work and remain at my old Blacksmith's ranch in the Los Gatos foothills.
Introducing the Owner:
Vincent Laughton
In 1870, my great-great-grandfather was a logger in Redwood City. Another great-great-grandfather served as a horseback doctor in Searsville, where he convinced Leland Stanford in the 1800s to establish a university with a working farm after Leland sought his advice!
I was born to a TV repairman who owned a TV store (Rocket Science, then) in the 1950s.
As a child, I helped my dad set up antennas and work on TVs. In the 1960s, he constructed the first cable system on the West Coast in Pacifica. I grew up in Redwood City and moved out of my home in Los Altos after getting my license.
I resided in Palo Alto and San Jose before finally settling in Los Gatos in 1993. I enjoy restoring unique cars (including front-door and amphibious models) and participate in a parade once a year as a hobby.

Vincent is my new hero. I had a chirping smoke detector - changed battery twice, unhooked it from the ceiling ... still chirped. I called Vincent who answered immediately at 6pm. To make a long story short, he worked with me on the phone -- at no charge -- to figure out the problem. He kept insisting that he would be glad to come out, but he didn't want me to spend the money when he knew the smoke detector wasn't the problem. Turned out he was right. Saved me a couple hundred dollars and lots of aggravation. A really nice guy, honest - and a great sense of humor as well. I know a lot of Yelp reviews aren't real -- this one is. He's my new electrician from now on!
Richard J.Service within the hour as advertised. Fixed the problem, we had a nice chat and I learned something about fuse boxes!
Richard M.Steve was prompt and helpful. I called him on a Sunday afternoon and he was there within an hour to help with a tripped switch. He also helped answer other questions I had.
Mike L.Prompt and wonderful service! Called and had resolution to my problem (installing an outlet on a water tank in the middle of a storm at the very top of a hill) within a few hours on a Saturday night! Great rates, great service, can't ask for more!
Steve was prompt, work was tidy, and fast with resolution to my electrical problem. Fair rate too. This guy has been in the biz a long time, knows his stuff. I'd call him again when I need an electrician.
